A unique experience, as told by Peter Price as he experienced at close hand, the wonderful work that Compassion undertakes...

Peter with fellow Advocates from all around the UK
Pastor Peter Price has recently returned from a visit to the Dominican Republic in order to encourage the work of Christian child development charity, Compassion. As an Advocate for Compassion, Peter spends part of his evenings and weekends raising awareness of child poverty and the work of Compassion...
Although the Dominican Republic is renowned as a popular holiday destination, with white sandy beaches and endless sunshine, there is a huge gap between the rich and the poor in the country. As many as 25% of the population live beneath the poverty line.
“I was deeply shocked at the condition that these children live in. What right have we to complain, when they have so little ?”, said pastor Peter.
Peter saw first hand how Compassion works with local churches to link each of its 800,000 sponsors in the developed world to a child in one of the 24 of the world’s poorest countries. Through this sponsorship programme, Compassion ensures that every child receives education, nutrition, healthcare, social and emotional support.
Among the many people he encountered, Peter met formerly sponsored children who are now contributing back to their communities as teachers and counsellors, as well as those studying law, computing and engineering.
Ian Hamilton, executive director of Compassion, commented, “It is easy to feel overwhelmed by the tremendous need of children in the developing world. Compassion offers a very practical and meaningful way for people to make a difference to those living in poverty, by sponsoring a child for just £18.00 per month.”
STOP PRESS!! Thanks to all the continued support from people all over the UK, April 07 has been a record month with 1410 children sponsored in that one month alone! At the time of writing, this makes a total of 34,298 children sponsored from the UK! Well done to all who have made this possible.
